Pump-action and break-action shotguns serve South African homes, farms and fields. This course — presented by MFTA — Michael Firearms Training Academy — covers everything the Firearms Control Act requires before you may apply for a licence to possess one.

• The Firearms Control Act, 2000: licensing, storage and transport
• Safe handling of pump-action and break-action shotguns
• Loading, unloading and making safe — including in the home context
• Shotgun ammunition: shot sizes, buckshot and slugs
• Marksmanship fundamentals for the shooting assessment
• The written test and practical evaluation

Who should attend

First-time shotgun owners applying for a self-defence or hunting licence, and farm or security personnel who need formal, accredited training.
