Manually Operated Rifle Competency

Manually Operated Rifle Competency

The manually operated rifle — bolt-action, lever-action and pump-action rifles — is the choice of most South African hunters. This course, presented by MFTA — Michael Firearms Training Academy — prepares you for the competency certificate you need before applying for a licence to possess one.

What the course covers

• The Firearms Control Act, 2000: licensing, storage and transport of rifles
• Safe handling — loading, unloading, making safe and carrying
• Action types: bolt, lever and pump operation
• Ammunition knowledge, calibres and safe carriage in the field
• Marksmanship fundamentals for the shooting assessment
• The written test and practical evaluation

Who should attend

Hunters and sport shooters applying for their first rifle licence, and anyone who wants professional, structured training before the SAPS assessment.
